Shared Renewal: Recoupling East with West
April 16-18, 2021
Even in the face of a world-changing pandemic, China's story unceasingly unfolds. It's a story of many facets and inarguably transcends national boundaries. It's one that involves you, me and the world.
In a year of struggle, sorrow and withdrawal, what is the next chapter of China's story? For now, that remains unknown. But around the world are hopes for a renewal – shared by all, no matter who or where you are.
This is the underlying, aspirational force driving this year's meeting of minds – and is aptly represented by the character 同, which we have reimagined as the overarching theme for this year's Symposium.
The Symposium have also reimagined 同 as three sub-themes, guiding dialogue over three days.
Day 1
The world before Covid is unmistakable to the one we inhabit now. What can we learn by reflecting on the past?
Day 2
Across the world, we're learning difficult lessons about how to weather this pandemic. Where in the present day is our collective resilience being shown?
Day 3
We want a safer, brighter and more sustainable future. As we look ahead, what should our path to recovery involve?
